Peechi Dam

Peechi dam is one of the oldest dams in the state of Kerala. Peechi dam is a concrete straight gravity dam. The dam is situated in Thrissur district of Kerala. It was started in order to facilitate irrigation in the surrounding villages. This dam situated about 22 kilometers outside of the Thrissur also provides the drinking water for the city. It is constructed across the Manali River. The dam was constructed in 1958 with E.Ikkanda warrier being its architect. The people of Thrissur first protested against the construction of the dam. A retired engineer from Andhra Pradesh build the dam as the engineers in Kerala was against the construction. The dam and the surrounding area spread to about 125 square kilometers. The surroundings of the Dam is stuffed with natural beauty and flora of different Varity can be seen here

How to reach here
The nearest airport is the Kochi international Airport which is at a distance of 98 km from the dam
We can approach the dam by rail also. The nearest being the Thrissur railway station about 22 km from the dam
The dam is just 15 km from Thrissur, we can hire a cab or come by bus.
