Kerala Kalamandalam

Kerala the state with the highest literacy rates is famous for many other things also. There are many unique art forms in the state that has fascinated the art lovers for ages. But these art forms were in the verge of extinction. In  1930 in the urge of promoting these art forms one of the greatest poets from Kerala  Vallathol established the Kerala Kalamandalam. Kalamandalam offers training in many traditional art forms such as Mohiniyattam,kathakali,thullal, Drama and fock dances.  Another important places to visit near kalamandalam are the temple of “kozhimamparambu”Bhagavathy , St. Thomas Chruch and the Cheruthutruthy  Mosque. Kerala Kalamandalam is  situated in a place named Cheruthuruthy in the District of Thrissur.  For decades Kalamandalam has been teaching the world the legacy of Kerala  and is one of the most respected art institutions in the world. People from all over the world come here to taste the essence of the spectacular culture of Kerala. Kalamandalam was awarded the status of “Deemed University For Art and Culture in the year 2006 by the Government of India. Kalamandalam has produced many famous personalities including Kalamandalam Appukutty Poduval, kalamandalam Krishnan Nair-a legendary kadhakali performer and so on.

The nearest Air ports are at kochi and Calicut both around 90 km from kalamandalam

Its almost 30 km away from thrissur you can come either by bus or can hire a cab

The nearest railway station is shornur railway station which is just 2km away.
