How to Access Wayanad:
Calicut International Airport – is the nearest airport to Wayanad and is located at 75Km from Wayanad.
Cochin International Airport is at a distance of 276Km.
No direct rail ways are available to Wayanad. Nearest rail way station is Kozhikode (Calicut). Direct buses are available to all directions of Wayanad from Calicut.
National Highway (NH-212) – passes through Wayanad. This highway starts from Calicut and extends to Mysore (upto Kollegal).

1. Kuruwa Dweep (Kuruva Island)
Kuruva Dweep is a 950 acres spread natural island located at 17Km from Mananthavady. Kuruva – situated in the tributaries of Kabani river, is a real beautiful natural green forest covered island which houses rare birds, shrubs, herbs and plants. An attractive event is the trekking through this uneven island, its natural green, water bodies, crossing the Kabani river in bamboo boats (Changadams) etc.
2. Chembra Peak:
Chembra Peak is exclusively for adventorous people 🙂 Trekking through and climbing up this 2100m above MSL peak is a challenging task, but its possible with a will. Camping facility is available at top of Chembra peak and 1 or 2 days camp at this place is an amazing experience. A beautiful,wide,exhilarating view of Wayanad can be enjoyed from the top of this peak – which itself is worth the physically demanding climb. 3. Edakkal Caves:
Edakkal is another adventurous spot in Wayanad, located at 25Km from Kalpetta. This place has a crevice of 96ft in length and 22ft width which appears to any one like a cave and hence the name. 1Km trekking from Edakkal will take you to the spot and you can see carvings of animals,old symbols,carvings of humans on the rocks which dates back to pre-historic age. Edakkal is a must see place in Wayanad.
4. Banasura Sagar Dam:
Banasura Dam is the largest earth dam in India, located towars north west of Kalpetta (21Km). It is also the second largest earth dam in Asia. Main attraction for travellers here is trekking to adjacent Banasura hills, to small islands formed inside the dam, the spectacular view of natural beauty.
5. Soochipara Waterfalls:
Soochipara is a spectacular show 🙂 A natural water fall blessed by divinity of nature, this water fall originates from a height of 300ft. There is a pool adjacent to this falls which is well suitable for Swimming,Bathing,Water Rafting etc. A small trekking through jungle is needed to reach upto the waterfalls.
6. Pookot Lake:
Pookot is a natural,fresh water lake located at 3Km from Vythiri (Vythiri is 13Km from Kalpetta). Boating through the calm,crystal clear water is the main attraction for travellers here. Through out the boating session you can enjoy adjacent hills,natural forests, birds, flora and fauna of the region.
7. Meenmutty Waterfalls:
Ever experienced an unspoiled natural water fall? Here’s a chance! Meenmutty is 300m high 3 tier waterfall which can be accessed only with a 2Km hiking 🙂 and that’s the best part of it.
